How do you deal with an obnoxious co-worker?

This guy I work with, started about a year after I did. He doesn’t seem to understand the chain of command. He started after I did, therefore I am considered his superior, yet he’s constantly telling ME what to do. Now, I’m 22, a year older than him, but I look like I’m a few years younger, and I’m pretty skinny. Meanwhile, he’s balding and looks about 5 years older than he actually is, and he’s fat. I guess he sees me as inferior due to my size and thinks he can just push me around. Anyway, I’m babbling now. My question was how do I get this guy to leave me the hell alone? He’s constantly mouthing off, pretending to slit my throat with his box cutter, “play” hitting me in the shoulder. I **** that kind of crap. I don’t want to tell my boss as I’ll feel like I’m taddling, and I should be able to handle this on my own.
I had no idea where to place this question.
Ok people, maybe I didn’t use the right word when describing my position. I’m not his superior, but I do have seniority, and according to my boss this means that whoever’s below me has to do whatever I say.
Ummm, I’m a guy by the way.

SQL ReportServer Deployment W/ ASPX Front-End?

I have a web application built as a way to search through invoices, summaries, and work orders. In short, when a user drills down to a specific invoice, summary or work order, they may hit a print button, which launches a sql reporting services report.

Please avoid commenting on the obvious architectural flaws, as I could just use a stylesheet w/ media set to print to format the drilled-down invoice, summary or work order, because my boss insisted I use sql reporting services.

Nevertheless, I built the damn thing. Works great.

However, for deployment, we’re throwing the app on one web server box, and the database on another.

My boss has just one sql server license, and, as you may know, sql reporting services is a part of the server install. So, sql reporting services must reside on the database server.

The problem is that sql reporting services makes a web app for itself only on the local IIS. Because I simply will not point traffic to the database server, I need help.

I have almost a year working here, I know I do very well my boss compliments me on my work a lot, Im always on call for example my boss and his assistant were both off on vacation for 2 weeks, I did most of their job duties plus my own, I worked 63 each week probably more with no days off.. I Know I deserve it but Im very nervous to ask

It’s kind of upsetting because I’ve done so much for the company. I’ve put in ridiculous amounts of over time and have brought in million dollar deals. Should I be upset?

How do you deal with a co-worker who does not have tact?

One of my co-workers has no tact. She constantly says that I have caused problems in the work that she is doing. She says this in front of my boss.

I am actually training her to do my job and she says that I am wrong in what I tell her. She does this to others also.

I just ignore it, but may say something soon if she continues to do this.

Is it right for co-workers to disrespect you like this?

Is there a government agency that I could contact regarding an unprofessional boss and his VERY BAD conduct?

I have a friend that works for a business that does fire and flood damage reapir on homes and businesses. Her boss is a real piece of work. 1. He loves to cuss his employees out on a daily basis. (His favorite word is the “F’ word!) 2. He rarely allows any breaks at all, much less a full 30 minute lunch break. This friend of mine walked out today after he called her a “F#$%ing IDIOT” about 5 times, and as she was leaving, he was chasing her out of the parking lot, beating on her windows, telling her what a “piece of sh!t” he thought she was. She said this has been going on for MONTHS and everyone is scared of this monster. She is the second employee to leave the company this week for the same reason. Who can she contact to complain about this? We didn’t know if it would be the LRB or who? She has called the company’s corporate office but it’s a franchise and they could really care less!

What would be your advice if during an evaluation your supervisor?

proceeded to tell you “this person wants you fired” and goes on to tell you OFFICE GOSSIP that people had said behind your back. They also gave details of how certain people who do not supervise you have taken action to have you fired.

Is a situation like this hopeless? I do the majority of the work for my boss. The last thing my boss wants is for me to go because then who’d do all of the work? I have my limits. Help.

I’ve left employment situations before and I don’t want to feel pushed out. I don’t want to run away from the situation. I really work for a sick individual who has absolutely no idea how to do their job. They view me as someone they can easily manipulate. What should I do about the negative comments they tell me “other people” have said? Do I tell this person I’d prefer not to hear those things?
