Driving from Raleigh to Upstate NY - best way?

I’m driving from Raleigh (Goldsboro area) to central upstate NY the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. All the mapquest directions say to go up 95. I’m afraid that traffic will be so bad that we’ll never make it home at a reasonable time. Would it be better to take 95 to Richmond and then take 64 to 81? We have to leave NC around 1 or 2 in the afternoon so traveling with traffic will be difficult. Any advice?

BOSTON area residents: Orange Line death?

Yesterday there was a lot of backed-up traffic on the Orange Line…rumor had it some guy died on the tracks. Then last night (June 26, 2006) there was a news report - a man was found on the third rail. It was unclear if he intentionally threw himself or fell, and if he was struck by a train or if it was the third rail that killed him.
No CommentsI’ve conducted a THOROUGH search via Google and every Boston news site - there is NOTHING!
So, did anyone see the report last nite? I was watching the news before bed and saw the quick clip of a guy being taken out of an orange line station on a stretcher all sealed up and ready for the morgue.
Did ANYBODY else see this? There’s a debate in my office this morning as to the validity of my claim; but I’m not makin’ this up, I saw it on the news I swear!!

Pennsylvania bicycle laws?

My fiance was traveling to work on his bicycle (our car wasn’t running) and was traveling with traffic on the right side of the road on the travel lane. There was no shoulder on that section of the road for him to be traveling on. He heard a car coming up behind him and decided to swerve to get out of the way. She swerved as well and struck him. He ended up in the hospital with a knee injury. We just got the police report today, and he is being charged with “driving on roadways laned for traffic”, while the driver of the car isn’t being charged with anything. She has State Farm insurance and we were hoping to have her insurance pay his exorbitant hospital bills. My question is for anyone familiar with bicycle laws…was my fiance doing anything wrong? Shouldn’t the driver have been charged with something as well? If her insurance company refuses to pay for his hospital bills, do we have grounds for a lawsuit?
It was a rural state route that we live along, so there is NO sidewalk and no shoulder for him to ride on. Also, there is no bike lane. There is only the two travel lanes, and the DOT laws I saw said that bicyclists are not supposed to ride against traffic. It was daylight out when he was riding. And to the first person, whose name is exorbitantly stupid, there was no trail alongside the road. We live in the middle of nowhere. So your opinion is moot.

major problem need help please?

i was driving on the highway with traffic going 5 miles an hour, i was behind this big white electric company truck with a thing in the back that can hook on to another car and pull it. this ***** stopped then it was going back and i honked the horn and already it hit the chrome part of the truck and she’s blaming me for not stopping. i was actually at park cuz my foot was getting tired and there were cars behind me of course, so she made a report stating i hit her. she all looking scared and guilty knowing its her fault, had made that and now im being blamed for nothing. what to do?
p.s. its my boyfriends truck and left a really big dent in the front with nothing on her truck.

Whats the best route to avoid cape traffic?

I’m trying to go from Hartford, CT to Falmouth, MA, right at the beginning of Cape Cod. I’ll be traveling friday night of July 4th, not leaving Hartford until around 8:00 atleast.

What method could my ISP be using to block torrent programs if it is not blocking ports?

I realised that no matter what port numbers I try to insert on utorrent and bittorrent they all report blocked. Bitcomet was always reporting that the listening port is blocked no matter which port numbers I try. I have tried 80,8080,88 and like fifty other port numbers I have been told here and online to try. This led me to conclude the ISP could not be blocking all those ports for all traffic. What then am I using to browse or download if all ports are blocked?
The issue here is that I am using public wifi in a city. The router in this case belongs to the ISP and is located at the wireless access point. The ISP disables upnp on the router and does other things so that there is no access to the router. In other words I CANNOT ACCESS THE ROUTER TO DO PORT FORWARDING. I HAVE TRIED BEFORE.
What then could the ISP be using to block only p2p traffic. I am very sure if it is only ports they were blocking I could just change them on my torrent clients. Help me

I need to be in EVERETT at 9:30am to work everyday and I live near Sea Tac airport, SEATTLE. I don’t want to spend 2 hours drive everyday, please help me to find an alternative way to get to work with less time get stuck in traffic. Thank you very much for your time.

car accident. i tried to keep it short as possible but really need your advice?

i was in a minor car accident. here’s the story….i was parking my car at the university i go to. the parking space didn’t fit, so my top left bumber was already out. then i pulled out 75 %, meaning my car was almost out the parking space until i saw a car in my left rear view mirror. I completely stopped, turn on my left signal to let the car know im getting out. he’s about 20 or more feet away from me and slowed down. i took the fact that he slowed down to let me go since im already almost out. i got out the parking space straighten my wheel and prepared to drive forward when he banged into my car at an angel hitting my left front bumber and it completely fell off. an officer came and made a report, he didn’t say much about the accident but seem to take my side more because my car was more damage while his was left with a couple scratches from what i can see. there’s obviously two side to the story and its even more complicated since the car he’s driving is a rental/commercial. i did not talk to the driver @ the accident or ever since. he is a complete ******* ignoring me when i tried to exchange information. but i am talking to the owner of the vehicle. he said that it sound like it was my fault since i was pulling out. anyway i tried contacting the officer but he did not return my phone call yet. i do not have the police report and called in but it is not ready. the owner of the other car said that the officer called him and said it was indeed my fault because its the law not to pull out into traffic…(which i didn’t do because i stopped and he saw me and yield)..he also said that the the report was finish and again it was my fault and i should contact my insurance company and call him to give him my claim #. i called in the station again with my incident # to check on the report and if i can pick it up but the lady told me it was not yet finish!!!!! it takes about 10 days.

1. do you think i was wrong and is it indeed my fault because of the law stating do not pull into traffic when parking or whatever?
2. i do not have the police report yet…should i still call my insurance company? even though i feel it is not my fault
3. i should just wait for the officer to contact me with the report and ask him if he indeed call the owner of the other car about it being my fault
i believe he saw me and slowed down but thought that he could cut me off and sped up and then hit me in the process. it’s like the changing of a traffic light…he coming down the street so its green light. he saw my car so he slowed down so thats yellow light…then he sped up to try to beat it and hit me…red light.
